Daniel Sergent, the second cousin four-times-removed on the mother's side of Nigel Horne, was born in Allen, Indiana, USA on Nov 22, 18621,2. He was orphaned at the age of 13 following the death of his father in 1873 and mother in 1875.

Throughout his life, Daniel lived in several places: in Hanna, LaPorte, Indiana, USA on Jul 1, 1870; in La Porte, Indiana on Jun 8, 1880; and in Osceola, Polk, Nebraska, USA on May 14, 19103 and on Jan 20, 1920.

He died on Apr 20, 1922 in Polk, Nebraska1,2 and was buried in Osceola after Apr 20, 19221,2.

Telitha may not have been his mother. In the 1910 census his mother's birth state is set to Kentucky - also he's living next door to the family house.
