He died on Jul 18, 1942 in Lima, Ohio2,3,4 (from The Lima News, Saturday, July 18, 1942: Charles E. Bixler, 54, a World war veteran, died Saturday morning at his home, 253 S. Pine-st, after a long illness. He was a native of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and had lived in Lima for about 30 years. He was a stonecutter by trade. Surviving are his wife, Elva; his father and mother, William and Anna Bixler of Wolcottville, Ind. and two brothers, Harry and Jesse, both of Ft. Wayne. He was a member of Trinity Methodist church and the Brotherhood Sunday school class. Funeral services will be held at the late home Monday at 10 a.m., in charge of Rev. W. B. Arthur of Alger. Burial will be in Alger cemetery) and was buried at Preston Cemetery, Alger, Hardin, Ohio after Jul 18, 1942.
