Levi Carley, the second cousin twice-removed on the mother's side of Nigel Horne, was born in Biddenden, Kent, England on Feb 19, 18801,2, was baptized in Wye, Kent, England on Aug 29, 1880 and married Rosamund Flaxman (with whom he had 10 children: Daphne, Gwen, Phyllis, Leslie John, Hilda Dorothy, John William, Gordon Percy, Muriel, Harold and Richard, along with 4 surviving children) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on Oct 25, 1909. On Apr 3, 1881, he lived at Church Farm Cottage, Harty, Kent, England1. He arrived in Canada in 1900.

He died on Aug 20, 1969 at Stensrud Lodge, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon after Aug 20, 1969.
