Notes

Family stories are that Frances Elizabeth Sergeant and John Edward Pool were both from Kent, England, but did not know each other while there. They both sailed on the Wellington from London, England and that's where they met. They arrived in New York on May 18, 1841 and were married on February 5, 1842 in Allen County, Indiana. They moved from there to Clay County, Indiana in 1859, where they owned 80 acres in Howesville. John helped charter the Presbyterian Church in Howesville.
