William Spain, the three times great-uncle of Nigel Horne, was born in Stourmouth, Kent, England on Aug 30, 18081,2,3,4,5, was baptized there at All Saints on Sep 11, 1808 and married Mary Mantle (with whom he had 4 children: Thomas, Charles, Mary Ann and William) at St Nicholas, Ash, Kent, England on Oct 12, 18367.

William spent all of his life in Kent, England. Throughout his life, he lived in several places around the county: on Knell Lane in Ash on Jun 6, 184112; at New Street in Ash on Mar 30, 18519; in Ash in 18612 and in 18713; and at New Street in Ash on Apr 3, 188110 and on Apr 5, 189111.

He died on Jun 22, 1891 in Eastry, Kent6 and was buried at St Nicholas on Jun 26, 18918.
