Susanna Newport, the 3 times great-grandmother of Nigel Horne, was born in Great Hardres, Kent, England in 1787, was baptized in Ham, Kent, England on Feb 4, 1787 and married John Spain (a laborer with whom she had 5 children: Henry, William, Charles, Stephen and Sarah) in Stourmouth, Kent, England in 1806.

She died in 1817 in Stourmouth.
